Logical Arguments about Religion

Warning: Contains thoughts about religion from an atheist.
DO NOT READ IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THE THOUGHTS OF AN ATHEIST
Don't take this as an attack on religion, more what I think about it. If you have any facts that I have wrong do tell me. I like to be educated, and impartial.
It is an opinion, so do keep that fact in mind.

The more I think about it, the more I amazed I become at the people who invented it. How is it that people can live by teachings of those who aren't even around to prove it anymore? To wholeheartedly judge the world based on pages in a book, or recollections of another. Is something this unreliable really something to judge morals and people by? Is this what we should use as a textbook way to live life?

I've always believed in my own definition of justice and what is right, but my opinions aren't followed by the world I live in. I wonder if in the past, before religion, there was a person who wanted to share his morals and justice with people who didn't agree. So, in order to make people agree, they created a "god" or a textbook of rules that was a law that no human controlled. This way people would agree to follow it, and would force people to abide by his beliefs. A type of brainwashing that would be hard to figure out.

If so, then religion was nothing more than a tool that has lead the human race forward. Then maybe a way to change the world to be something that I picture, would be to create a religion based on my own ideals. Maybe then I'd reach the world I dream of, a place where people can trust and believe in the good of humanity without fear. I cast doubt on the people and people will say it's impossible. But, I still want to believe that people are good and that we have hope in this world. I do know that even if I make a small town of perfection, just one person will be enough to ruin it.

I wonder why people can't live without hating one another, why we accept this world of strife and cruelty without a second thought. We offer up our lives as a society with no change or goals. Sure, technology has improved and sure, people know more now, but what use is it if it is our own very dark natures that is destroying us? There is no animal that exists that kills without reason.

For a species that believes murder is unjust, we kill far too often and we kill far too many. For people who all believe that we are all equal, we sure to don't act like it. For a people who believe in loving, we hate far too many people.

Is it too much to ask for people to be human to one another? Or is this another dream that has no hope...
